When I joined  a few computer art groups, I found that several other artists were making shrines. Many of these were themed items in a box. Many were very lovely, but my idea of a shrine is more medieval. I made these pieces as personal alter pieces that could be carried with the owner.

Red Roses was made in the style of an alter piece that would house a Madonna. The wire framework, that this piece was worked over has stiffened needlepoint canvas attached to it. This technique made it easier to stitch through the piece and give it the support it needed.

Blue on Blue was made on a framework like Red Roses, but I hinged the pieces so it could be folded up and carried.
